It started with a phone
On 19 August 2026, a message in the BB chat came with a thank-you: its author said they had bought a new phone by making Telegram bots. A little over two hours later, a reply used almost the same words. This time, the purchase was a bike.
A laptop message followed, explicitly crediting bots made with BB. The chat was filling up with personal accounts of what bot work had helped people buy.
A packet of bhujia joins the thread
The owner wrote: “Thank you. This is really motivating.” A heart followed.
Then the scale changed. A reply to the bike message announced a new packet of bhujia — a savoury snack — bought by making Telegram bots and a website. It kept the same thank-you format, right down to tagging the owner.
The purchases had become the setup for a joke.
The founder gets the night shift
By lunchtime, BB had shared the career-levels meme. Junior developer: bhujia. Middle developer: a phone. Senior developer: a laptop. Tech lead: a bike.
The BB owner recalls these thank-you messages as the spark for the meme. Its ladder puts the purchases in career order, with one last rung waiting for the founder: still fixing bugs at 3 AM.
A week later, on 26 August, a message thanked the owner for new headphones bought by making bots. It was posted as a reply to the meme itself.
