A fifteen-minute wait
On the evening of 11 January 2024, the founder posted a brief announcement: a fifteen-minute timeout had arrived with a new round of Admin Wars.
Earlier that evening, he had defended a volunteer administrator against demands for replies. In the founder’s account, this was an active user helping when able, not a paid member of the support team.
Two days earlier: a badge for a day
On 9 January, BB had tried a very specific version of the role. A coding quest came with a Quest Master, appointed for twenty-four hours, who would accept a solution and guide participants. A separate message announced admin rights for the same period.
The quest offered 500 BBP for the accepted fix, with another 200 BBP available for rewarding useful answers. This badge had a task attached—and an announced expiry time.
The name was already familiar
Admin Wars was the founder’s own phrase. He had used it in February and March 2023 after the earlier team reset. In December, he described moderation disputes as taking time away from BB development.
On 2 April 2024, he relayed a complaint about moderation and alleged misuse of admin rights, then announced that those rights would be revoked. The allegations remained the complaint’s account. The following day, he confirmed that the chat had no administrators.
